Description
The Guide to Patient Identification course will build your understanding of the complexities and importance of accurately identifying patients. The course includes a review of data entry standards, typical policies and workflows, and a discussion of the impact of duplicate or overlay records.
Objectives:
Lesson 1
- Recognize the importance of accurate patient identification
- Identify the structure and organization of the MPI
- Demonstrate understanding of the impact of patient selection errors
Lesson 2
- Describe the various types of technology used to assist in patient identification
- Identify common rules included as part of an organization’s data entry standards
- Indicate the number of patient identifiers that should ideally be matched before a record is selected
Lesson 3
- Identify common patient identification errors
- Recognize issues that arise as a result of patient identification errors
- List strategies for avoiding duplicates or overlays






I do better with reading than listening and I read faster than the narration, so it was slow for me
It seemed overly simplified, basic knowledge for the most part. Maybe examples of just how complex it actually is to clean up these type errors would be helpful, most employees have no clue.
This was a very insightful course it gave a more in depth look at how important registration is from the beginning to end of a patient care experience.
